Añiela dela Cruz joined the University of Calgary in 2014 after working at Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada as an evaluation consultant and policy analyst. Working with rural, urban and Indigenous communities, immigrant populations and government, she has helped shape national HIV policies and programming and HIV/AIDS community-based research. Añiela’s doctoral dissertation (from the University of Alberta) focused on the experiences of sub-Saharan African immigrants living with HIV in Alberta and she continues to work with this community, helping mitigate health and social inequities.
